Lake City RV Resort

We traveled 260 miles today through some rain and winds. The weather is much cooler and nicer than NOLA. The humidity is not as severe as up around the gulf coast. Final time change today, we lost another hour. We hope to have a nice easy 3 hour trip home tomorrow, so we can unpack and get back into our resort lifestyle. The open road is interesting, but there still is no place like home.
Slot 50 this time. Home on the road till tomorrow.

Eagle's Landing Holt, Florida

Today was another 4 state day. Left Louisiana, went through Mississippi, Alabama and into Florida. The weather has been rainy all day for us. It is keeping things cool, which is nice. Kahlua got caught in Elwin's seat at the rest area. She loves to see what is going on. Getting caught up on some laundry since the facilities are close to us in this RV Park.
Keeping an eye on things.

Spot for the night.

Nice clean simple park.

Segway Tour of New Orleans, Louisiana

Today we took a trip into New Orleans and booked a Segway Tour of the French Quarter. After that we went and had breakfast at the Beignets Cafe and visited Jackson Square. After our Beignets breakfast we headed back to the Segway Tour and enjoyed 2 hours visiting New Orleans via Segway. What fun! The weather here was great until after the tour. We just got to our car in time before the rains came. The Lord really was kind to us today. We were able to take in the city before the bad weather moved in. Homeward bound tomorrow.
Mmmm,...good. NOLA specialty.

Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral.

St. Louis Cathedral.
St. Louis Cathedral is the oldest Roman Catholic Cathedral in continuous use in the United States. It is between the Cabildo, the building where the Louisiana Purchase was signed, and the Presbytere, which was formerly a courthouse. The Cathedral is a brick between posts construction, a type of construction used in New Orleans until the mid-19th century. There are three spires, a central spire flanked by two smaller ones. A bell tower with a clock was added to the church in 1819. The clock and its bell were obtained by a New Orleans clockmaker and brought from Paris. The bell stills chimes the hour.

Andrew Jackson
The Battle of New Orleans engendered a sense of nationalism among Americans–after all, the fledgling nation had now beaten back the British empire twice in 30 years, first during the American Revolution and then in the War of 1812. Pride over the victory effectively ended the growing pains of political divisiveness that had plagued the United States at the beginning of the war. Winning the Battle of New Orleans not only helped the United States maintain its newly won independence and increased patriotic sentiment, it turned Jackson into a national hero and paved the way for his ascent to the presidency in 1828.

Pontchartrain Landing RV Park, New Orleans

Today we drove around 280 miles to New Orleans. There was a lot of rain on the roads today and it is rainy here. We hope the weather improves. The campground is nice with lots of amenities, plus a shuttle into town. Hope the weather allows us to go to the French Quarter tomorrow.
Our slot for the next two nights right near the water.

Ajax Country Livin RV Park Marthaville, Louisiana

Had a short days drive for about 2-3 hours to a small quaint campground nestled in the hills of Louisiana near Shreveport. The owners live on the land here and have a small campground of around 30 slots. It is peaceful with a lake and very country. Under $20 with Passport America. Very nice place, just hot this time of year. We are getting acclimated to the humidity again. We are headed to New Orleans tomorrow to stay for a few days depending on the heat and weather. Hope to take in some sights there.
Right by this peaceful lake.

Nice spot for the night with shade and picnic table.

Ahh, so peaceful and close to highway without noise. The Best.
