Mission RV Park in El Paso, Texas

Drove from Ft. Stockton to El Paso today. Luckily the winds died down after a few miles out of Ft. Stockton. The winds whipped us last night, but we got some sleep. Ended up leaving early to combat the winds early on. The western terrain of Texas has mountains and looks a lot like New Mexico, instead of Texas. We are staying at a really nice place in El Paso. We took a dip in the pool and hot tub and got to relax this afternoon and watch some golf. The day started rough, but ended nicely.

Rest stop, road weary.

Our spot for the night.

Mission RV park right next to highway. A nice gravel park as I like to call them.

Fort Stockton, Texas

Traveled today to Ft. Stockton TX. Some of the highway was rough road, some not. Not very traveled by many. The land was barren and very hilly with high wind warnings and gusts. We arrived later due to high winds. The Park view campground we are in is cheap at $15, but just like the town barren. Went to Walmart for water in town. On the way we passed the city bird which I will ad later,...the Road Runner. We will rock and roll tonight if the winds don't die down. Weather channel says 20-30mph winds, but it sure feels like more. Kahlua is much better. We are safe and sound tonight, thank you Lord. I was quite tense this afternoon with the high winds and gusts against this box of ours. Hopefully we will get out early tomorrow and get through the wind areas of West Texas.
Not very appealing.

Our slot with full-hook-up for the night.

Pretty barren land-desert, winds, and dust. Lots of pipeline workers live here.

By the Guadeloupe River

Drove 340 miles today to get moving again. Today was wonderful, uneventful and we ended up right on the Guadeloupe River, which winds around us and is lovely to look at.  We stayed an extra day in Beaumont due to dog water poisoning issues. Kahlua is now much better after seeing the wonderful Veterinarian in Beaumont. Today when we arrived Kahlua got to swim in the river since it was hot. The site we are on is not great, but for the price it is awesome. We have a beautiful view of the river and great dog walking area. I though love bugs were only in Florida,...wrong. We hit the mother load of love bugs today. Elwin washed them off this evening. We finally had a breakthrough day of good travel, minimal issues. Yeah!!!
Feeling better.

Our full-hook-up gravel site for under $20 with a great view of the  Guadeloupe River.

Love Bugs!

Nice crossing of the river below for Kahlua and me. She went for a swim to get clean from the dirt of Beaumont mud.

Friday morning as we were getting ready to leave, Elwin said two ducks came waddling up for food. So I found a piece of bread and they were happy.

They liked the piece of bread Elwin gave them.

Entry to the Lone Star State. Beaumont, Texas

Traveled from Baton Rouge to Beaumont, Texas today. Crossed the Mississippi River and The Sabine River which seperates the states of Louisiana and Texas. All in all a good day of travel. No issues today. Had a little trouble negotiating a turn at Love's gas station, but was able to make it once a lady, shopping moved her vehicle. We are staying at Gulf Coast RV Resort and the pictures show how nice it is for less than $25.00 for the night. We were here early and the laundry was close, so yeah, laundry is done. The grass here is sopping wet. They have had bad rains here too. Thank goodness it is clear skies and the temperature is wonderful.
Nice pull-through site.

Took a dip today. Nice and cool.

Crawfish mound/hole. Lots of them here in Beaumont, TX

Riding out the storms in Denham Springs/Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Started the morning early with major storms of winds and rain along the route we would travel. We chose to stay put in this KOA. The car would not start this morning so we charged it and it is running, but has issues. Tomorrow is more severe rain forecast, so we plan to get the car to the local Chevrolet dealership to fix whatever issue we have with the battery, etc. Down days and rainy days are good for the soul. Enjoyed reading and taking a rain break from the road.
Child riding through water we came through yesterday. Thought we flooded car.

Elwin trying to get car started. Ended up charging battery.
